"The last time the Dolphins were in their stadium, fans were chanting for somebody else's quarterback so you know the locals intend to be no easy marks this season. That's why it was significant when the same home crowd came together for a different, much more upbeat chorus in the first half of Friday night's preseason game.

"Reggie, Reggie, Reggie," the folks repeated in unison during the first quarter and then again before halftime.

Welcome to South Florida, Reggie Bush.

One half of football and you're officially a hit.

"I knew that I wanted to make an impression with this team," Bush said. "I wanted to make an impression with the fans right away. I thought that was important. I'm all about respect and I'm all about earning respect, too."

The faithful sang their approval of Miami's new running back because in his Dolphins debut and after a mere 12 touches of the football, he opened eyes and gained that respect.

He also probably won over teammates that didn't see him on the field last week in the preseason opener, but definitely felt his presence in the lineup this night.

"Amazing," Brandon Marshall said, summing up the electricity Bush brought."
