"Andre Reed gets the chance to get over the final hurdle and into the Pro Football Hall of Fame today.
Reed, the Buffalo Bills' all-time greatest receiver, is one of the 15 modern-era finalists who will be considered during the selection meeting for the Hall's Class of 2012.
The 15 finalists are to be whittled in a reduction vote from 15 to 10 and then to five during the course of the meeting. At that point the selectors vote up or down on the final five candidates. Reed has made it to the final 10 each of the past two years, and this is his sixth straight year as one of the final 15.
Reed is one of five returning finalists who reached the final 10 a year ago. The others are center Dermontti Dawson, running back Curtis Martin, defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy and offensive tackle Willie Roaf.
A maximum of five modern-era finalists can get elected. There are 44 selectors from across the country, and induction requires approval from 80 percent of the voters (or 35 of 44). "
