The Redskins have signed free agent punter Blake Clingan, according to his agent, David Canter.

Washington released the 40-year-old Sav Rocca in March, and in January added free agent Robert Malone, a third-year pro, who has spent time with the Jets and Buccaneers.

Clingan played for the University of Central Florida and concluded his college career in 2010. Since then, he has bounced around with a couple teams in the offseason, but has yet to make a 53-man roster. The 6-foot-3, 233-pound Clingan signed with the Lions last offseason, but didn’t make their roster.

Clingan presumably will provide competition for Malone.

In other news, the NFL announced that defensive end Brandon Moore has been suspended the first four games of the season for violating the league’s policy and program for substances of abuse. Washington claimed Moore off waivers late last month. He is still eligible to take part in all offseason and preseason practices and games. Because of the amount of depth Washington has along the defensive line, Moore is no lock to make the roster.
