"The Reds will consider extending closer Francisco Cordero's contract. Cordero has an option for $12 million for 2012. He is willing to re-negotiate it.
"We've discussed it quite a bit," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. "We haven't made a final decision. Hopefully, we'll address it before the end of the season."
An extension is a "possibility," Jocketty said.
Cordero is 5-3 with a 2.34 ERA and 31 saves in 36 attempts. He's converted all 15 saves since the All-Star Break. His WHIP (walks + hits per innings pitched) is 0.94, among the best in the majors."
