The Reds signed left-hander Manny Parra to a one-year deal. The make room on the 40-man right-hander Todd Redmond was designated for assignment.

Parra was 2-3 with 5.06 ERA last year for Milwaukee. He held left-handers to a .229 average. With Aroldis Chapman slated to go into the rotation, Sean Marshall was only the left-handed reliever on roster with any big league experience.
