Valtteri Filppula played just 90 seconds of Game 7 before leaving with an injury that would have cost the Red Wings had they advanced.

Filppula lasted two shifts into Wednesday’s 2-1 overtime loss in Game 7 at United Center against the Blackhawks.

General manager Ken Holland said Filppula suffered a high-ankle sprain. Filppula was injured during play along the bench, when he was roughed up by Andrew Shaw, though there was no penalty on the play. Asked if Filppula was slew-footed, Detroit coach Mike Babcock said to look at video.

Babcock also said Filppula would be “ready for camp,” though it might not be Detroit’s, as Filppula is headed towards unrestricted free agency. That will be determined over the coming months.
