"The Detroit Red Wings made two moves today that cement their 23-man roster: signing Fabian Brunnstrom and releasing Ryan Johnson.
Neither decision was unexpected.
Brunnstrom and Johnson both came to training camp on tryouts; Brunnstrom after soliciting an invitation, Johnson after being invited at the behest of coach Mike Babcock. Brunnstrom, 26, was the more intriguing of the two, by far: a 26-year-old winger who scored 17 goals as an NHL rookie three years ago. The Wings recruited the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Swede at the time, but he ended up going to Dallas."
