On Tuesday it was Henrik Zetterberg talking about resuming skating, and hopefully returning to the Red Wings’ lineup soon.

Wednesday it was defenseman Jonathan Ericsson saying he will go on the ice Thursday for the first time since having surgery in late March to stabilize a fracture in his finger and repair a partially-torn tendon.

But like Zetterberg, don’t expect to see Ericsson early in this first-round series – if at all against the Bruins.

“It’s too early to tell,” said Ericsson, who was injured March 19. “The round could go on for about two weeks. It’s not going to be the beginning of the round, I know that.”

Ericsson had four pins inserted in the finger, and three of those remain. Those three will be removed later next week.

“I’ll know more about what the time frame is (after that),” said Ericsson, adding the tendon is taking a little more time to heal at this point than the bone.
