Jimmy Howard challenged himself to be better in exhibition games.

"I wasn't the other night," he said of allowing four goals against Toronto in a 4-3 overtime loss Friday night.

"I thought I was very lackluster, not up to my standards, and it's up to me to elevate my game."

And Sunday at Joe Louis Arena, as the Wings finished the exhibition season with a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Joe Louis Arena, Howard did exactly that.

He stopped 25 shots in his first exhibition victory.
