"Red Wings left winger Jan Mursak is going to miss an extended period of time with a non-displaced fracture of his left ankle.

"Two months for sure, I would think," Wings head coach Mike Babcock said after Sunday's 4-3 preseason win over Chicago.

Mursak, 23, injured the ankle in the second period when he drove hard to the net, lost his balance and crashed into the backboards.

"It's unfortunate for him, a guy that had a real good chance to make our club, that he's going to start behind the eight-ball," Babcock said. "It's tough when you're a kid. It's tough missing the start. It's hard to catch up.""
