"There's a chance for history tonight when the Red Wings host the Buffalo Sabres.
With 14 consecutive home victories, the Wings can set a new franchise record if they earn No. 15 against the Sabres.
The Wings haven't lost at Joe Louis Arena since dropping a 4-1 decision to Calgary on Nov. 3.
With the road-heavy schedule the Wings had in December — and are still trying to navigate through in January — to some players it doesn't feel like the Wings have really been at Joe Louis Arena much.
"We haven't been at home that often," Danny Cleary said. "The streak feels weird. It's been so separated. That whole December and January run we weren't at home (the Wings were on the road for 14 of 19 games), so it's been kind of weird.
"But before the season we talked about being better at home, that was a focus.
"No one in here has really talked about it (the streak).""
