Clay Buchholz and the Tampa Bay Rays both have histories with no-hitters.

So it would figure that the Boston Red Sox right-hander would carry a no-no into the eighth inning against the Rays on Sunday at Fenway Park.

Sunday, a Tampa Rays lineup with six regulars hitting .225 or worse was little match for Buchholz, who issued four walks, but struck out 11 entering the eighth.

Alas, a broken-bat single by Kelly Johnson - that fell gently into right field - broke up his no-hit bid leading off the eighth. Johnson was quickly erased by a double play, and Buchholz exited after eight scoreless, two-hit innings. The Red Sox went on to win, 5-0.
