Chris Capuano passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment by the Red Sox last week and the veteran left-hander has been released.

Signed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract this offseason, Capuano transitioned from the rotation to the bullpen with a 4.55 ERA and 29/15 K/BB ratio in 32 innings as a full-time reliever. He had a nice-looking 3.38 ERA until coughing up five runs on June 23 in what proved to be his final appearance.
