Jayson Nix, who spent the past two seasons as a utility man for the Yankees, has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Rays.

Nix has experience all over the field defensively, including filling in for Derek Jeter at shortstop last season, but he’s a 31-year-old career .218 hitter and hasn’t cracked a .700 OPS since 2009.

He’ll compete for a roster spot during spring training.
