The Tampa Bay Rays have officially claimed veteran infielder Micah Johnson off waivers from the San Francisco Giants, the club has formally announced. As a result, the Rays’ active roster now stands at 40 players with the month of December on the immediate horizon.

Despite coming over from San Francisco, Johnson never actually made an appearance as a member of the Giants while making stops with the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves along the way.

The 26-year-old infielder most recently made 18 regular-season appearances as a member of the Braves during the 2017 campaign. Over the course of his 10 at-bats from a season ago, Johnson hit just .200 while failing to register a single home run or RBI.
