Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta is returning to practice today after fracturing and dislocating his right hip during training camp, the team announced.

Pitta remains on the injured reserve-designated to return list.

He's been eligible to return to practice since the sixth game of the season and can be activated at any time.

By returning to practice, Pitta will enter a three-week window for the Ravens to either place him on the active roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh had expressed optimism about Pitta earlier this month, saying he was "closer than ever" to returning to practice. By all accounts, his surgery and rehabilitation have all gone smoothly.
