Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta dislocated his hip during practice on Saturday and will miss at least the regular season opener the team confirmed. The Ravens open the NFL season on Sept. 5 in Denver meaning Pitta will be out at least six weeks.

Pitta was carted off the field during practice after colliding with safety James Ihedigbo on a jump ball in the back of the end zone.

Pitta's injury is a potential blow to a Ravens offense that leaned on him heavily at times last season. The fourth-year tight end had five or more receptions in the eight of the Ravens 16 regular season games.
