Looking to add some competition for Gino Gradkowski and more versatility along the offensive line, the Ravens agreed to send a conditional 2014 draft pick today to the Indianapolis Colts for center A.Q. Shipley, both teams announced.

The trade will become official when Shipley passes a physical.

Shipley, a seventh-round pick out of Penn State by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2009, started five games at center for Indianapolis last season and saw action in 14 total games. At 6 feet 1 and 309 pounds, Shipley can also play guard.

He was expendable because the Colts have veteran starting center Samson Satele returning, along with 2012 fourth-round pick Khaled Holmes.

With the Ravens, Shipley is expected to compete with Gradkowski for the starting center spot, which became open when Matt Birk retired. The Ravens also drafted center-guard Ryan Jensen in the sixth round.
