"Behind Rasheed Wallace are career lows in minutes played, shooting percentage and points. Ahead of him lies an opportunity for meaningful redemption.
With all that as a backdrop, the Celtics forward seemed to come frighteningly close to singing a few bars of "My Way," to an audience of media members yesterday.
"So-so," Wallace said when asked to assess a season in which he shot 41.9 percent from the floor. "Nothing to write home about. It was so-so. But I'm not worried about it. It's a down season coming to a new offense or whatever, so I'm not worried about it. I'm not making no excuses on how I shot the ball or nothing. I know I had a bad year shooting, but it's part of it."
Looking at the chance to change the prevailing opinion of Celtics fans, Wallace sounded some familiar refrains.
"I'm going to be me no matter," he said. "Half the people like me; half the people don't. I'm not out here to please the fans or whatever. I'm here to win a title. Some of the fans are mad with me. Some of the fans cheer for me. I can't worry about (it). I can't play my game off that. I'm going to go out there and do what I've got to do."
