"Leandro Barbosa might not be getting as much ink as fellow Raptor newcomer Linas Kleiza, but it is already clear the club is expecting him to make just as much of an impact.
On the season's first day of practice Tuesday, head coach Jay Triano indicated Barbosa - one of the quickest players in the NBA - he isn't known as the Brazilian Blur for nothing - will get every opportunity to wreak havoc at the offensive end.
Though Barbosa, a former sixth man of the year award winner will likely come off the bench and though the Raptors, according to Triano, will not play a run-and-gun style like Barbosa's former club in Phoenix, the team will still be an up-tempo one with Barbosa playing a major role.
"Even today in doing some of the drills you can see how fast he is getting up and down the court," Triano said of the 27-year-old native of Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil."
