The Rangers on Monday continued to take a leisurely approach to free-agent lefthander C.J. Wilson's pursuit of a new contract.

General manager Jon Daniels did not meet with Bob Garber, who represents Wilson, on the first day of the winter meetings. Daniels said he expects to meet with Garber at some point during the meetings, which end Thursday, but had not set a date or time.

"The timetable probably works for both of us," Daniels said. "They're working through it. We weren't necessarily in a position where we were going to jump out.

"We feel good about our pitching staff if he doesn't sign with us. Obviously, we'd feel better about it if we did."
