"Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler, on the disabled list with a strained left groin since July 29, passed his first two tests Tuesday.

Kinsler ran without any noticeable discomfort and took 100 swings in the batting cage, two signs that the All-Star is nearing a return.

He could begin a minor league rehabilitation assignment this week after an MRI exam showed his strained left groin was improving.

"I feel great," Kinsler said. "Ran sprints, took 100 swings in the cage. I feel great." "
