"Josh Hamilton's father-in-law, Michael Dean Chadwick, who has been both an NFL team chaplain and Hamilton's guide to sobriety, has been hired as a Rangers' staff assistant. Chadwick will fill the role of "accountability partner," that was part of former assistant hitting coach Johnny Narron's job.

Narron left the Rangers in December to join the Milwaukee Brewers as their full-time hitting coach. Chadwick is not expected to have any baseball-related duties with the club. General manager Jon Daniels said it's likely Chadwick will be less visible than Narron because of his more limited role. Chadwick, who himself battled addiction earlier in life, also served as a team chaplain for the Washington Redskins during the Joe Gibbs Era."
