The best news for the Rangers is Henrik Lundqvist is not seriously hurt, though the goalie may still miss today's game against the Penguins with a stiff neck.
It's no secret Lundqvist's long-term health is vital to the Rangers' playoff chances. What's been a bit of a surprise has been the contribution they've gotten lately from Vinny Prospal after the veteran left wing missed the season's first 53 games with an injured left knee.
"I give him a lot of credit," said John Tortorella, who also coached Prospal with the Lightning. "I never thought he'd come back. He's given us a really big lift at an important time of the year."
Prospal's current eight-game scoring streak (two goals, eight assists) is a season high for the Rangers, who enter today's game in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with wins in five of their last six games, including a three-game winning streak.
