"Vladimir Guerrero's fine season was recognized Wednesday as he was named the winner of the Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award.

Guerrero, a free agent who was not offered salary arbitration by the Rangers, hit .300 with 29 homers and 115 RBIs while logging 152 games, 129 of which were as the DH.

He notched his ninth All-Star appearance and eighth Silver Slugger Award in a season that opened with him as a full-time DH for the first time in his career."
