"There's certainly been plenty of debate whether the Patriots need to pick up an outside receiver to spread the field and take the top off a defense.
It's no secret there's at least one guy who's willing to step back into the role. Yesterday, Randy Moss reminded everyone of his deep affection and admiration for the Patriots in an interview with KFAN 1130-AM in Minnesota.
"If you're asking me where my heart and where I'm happy is, I love playing with Tom Brady. I love being coached by Bill Belichick," Moss said.
Moss, who will be a free agent once a new collective bargaining agreement is reached, was sent packing following the Pats' Week 4 win in Miami. He was shipped to the Vikings in exchange for a third-round draft pick. Later in the year, after professing his love for the Patriots after the Vikings loss in Foxboro, he was waived by Minnesota, and eventually picked up by Tennessee.
Between his three stops, Moss had just 28 catches for 393 yards with five touchdowns. Naturally, the 34-year-old believes he can still play and help a team.
Above all, he'd like that team to be the Patriots.
"I think that just the success as a wide receiver and everything that the New England Patriots stand for, you know, I'm a big fan of Bill Belichick's," Moss told former Vikings teammate Erin Henderson, who hosted the show. "I really am, and not just on the field. I'm a fan of his off the field because, you know, the little grouchy man that you see on-camera is not what you see off-camera."
The bigger question is whether or not Belichick would want Moss back, or feel he even needs to have him back. Moreover, would the organization welcome him back, even at a reduced rate?
Moss, who made it clear he wasn't about to retire, also mentioned returning to the Vikings."
