"The sight of No. 84 running onto the practice field Wednesday was greeted by the sound of clicking cameras, but there was an imposter in this Titans uniform.
And it didn't take long for everyone to figure out this guy was not Randy Moss.
"I thought some people bought it,'' rookie safety Robert Johnson, the decoy, said with a smile. "I saw some people scurrying, trying to get a picture.''
A few minutes later the real Randy Moss ran through the door at Baptist Sports Park. It was the controversial wide receiver's second day on the job, with his third team this season. And this much came into focus immediately: the Titans won't be the same.
Moss took the field at high noon, mingled with teammates and coaches, and participated in the two-hour practice. Then in a press conference that lasted a few seconds north of three minutes, Moss tried to distance himself from the well-documented issues that prompted the Vikings to release him last week.
"I'm not coming here to start no trouble,'' said Moss, who was claimed by the Titans as 22 teams in front of them passed him up. "I'm just coming here to work every day and hopefully win.''
Moss expressed disappointment that things didn't work out with the Vikings and Patriots, and he bristled at a question about his effort, a subject he hasn't been able to outrun despite his 14,778 career receiving yards."
