"One is a future Hall of Famer, the other a budding star.
Titans receivers Randy Moss and Kenny Britt rarely got on the field together last week, however, and it doesn't look like they will be paired over the last three weeks of the season either.
While it may be simple for armchair quarterbacks to plug the duo into the same lineup, reality is a different matter, Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger said.
"Randy's really smart, but he's also on his third (team) this year. Flipping him to the other side would be a stretch," he said. "We've tried that with Kenny, and the more we extend Kenny, the worse he plays. As long as we can keep Kenny somewhere and say, 'Hey, go do this real fast, real hard,' we're in better shape."
Moss didn't sound convinced that it was too complicated to put him on the field with Britt.
"Anything's possible; it's just football," Moss said. "When guys are versatile and able to play more than one position, that's what really makes a player a player. I think myself and Kenny, we're versatile, to be able to make that transition. But this is not my offense. This is not his offense. Whatever we're told to do, we'll just get out there and do it."
The Titans acquired Moss off waivers only days after Britt suffered a hamstring injury that would sideline him for almost five games. Fans naturally jumped ahead, anticipating the day when Britt and Moss might wreak havoc on defenses together, especially after the offense slumped and the Titans spiraled into a six-game losing streak.
Yet when Britt returned to action last week against the Colts, Moss was relegated to the bench for the most part. The 13th-year pro has just five catches for 62 yards in five games with the Titans."
