Ramirez rough on still-winless Cook

"With homers and dreadlocks flying, plus miscues in the outfield, it was definitely a very Manny day at Dodger Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The end result was a 9-5 Los Angeles laugher over the Rockies and their struggling ace, Aaron Cook. It was the Dodgers' seventh consecutive win. Manny Ramirez hit his first two homers of the season in his first two at-bats, both off Cook. "I just didn't have it," said Cook, a 16-game winner and all-star last season who's winless this season after three starts with a 10.22 ERA. "I had a good game plan, but I didn't execute any of my pitches." Cook's ragged outing was reminiscent of opening day against Arizona, when he left the ball up and paid a heavy price. Cook

was gone after four innings Saturday, his ledger smeared by five runs and eight hits, including three homers. Cook said he feels great physically but knows his mechanics are off. "The sinker is flat and not coming out of my hand right," he said. "I don't have any explosiveness. That doesn't mean velocity. It just means the ball having good rotation and going down in the zone. That just wasn't there." Added manager Clint Hurdle: "His priority every game out is to establish the sinker, first and foremost. That didn't happen today and there wasn't a Plan B or a Plan C." For Ramirez, Saturday marked the 54th multihomer game of his career, tying him with Hall of Famer Frank Robinson for ninth all-time. And he now has 1,732 career RBIs, tying him with Honus Wagner for 19th all-time. "It's a long season," Ramirez said of his relatively slow start. "So what if you don't hit a home run the first month? You still have to believe in yourself and play the game and keep trying.""
