Ivan Nova is headed to the bullpen — for a few days, anyway.

The Yankees and Indians were rained out Wednesday night in Cleveland. Nova had been slated to start, but Joe Girardi said he would skip Nova’s turn in the rotation and start Phil Hughes on Thursday as scheduled.

“If you start moving everyone back, then Andy (Pettitte) is going to move back to seven days,” Girardi said, referring to the fact that the Yankees are already off on Monday. “I don’t necessarily want to do that.”

Zach McAllister will start for Cleveland, which will skip Corey Kluber, Wednesday’s scheduled starter.

Knowing that keeping the rest of the rotation on schedule was Girardi’s priority, Nova said he wasn’t disappointed to be skipped.
