"In four seasons at Cal, Kyle Boller was 2-2 against USC while Trojans quarterback Carson Palmer was on his way to becoming a No. 1 overall draft pick.

But head to head, Palmer was 2-1 against Boller's Bears, including in their senior seasons, when Cal blew a 21-3 lead by allowing 27 unanswered points to lose 30-28.

Palmer was the first pick in 2003, by Cincinnati. Boller was the 19th overall selection, by Baltimore.

Boller is competing with Palmer again this week, hoping to have the edge over the Raiders newcomer and start his first game of the season Sunday against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs."
