Raiders leaning toward sticking with QB Jason Campbell

"The Raiders' Jason Campbell heard the boos after he missed some throws - badly on a couple of occasions - during the first half of Sunday's 23-20 win over Kansas City.

"You have to have alligator skin to be a quarterback," Campbell said.

Campbell has been tough, coming back from being benched in the second game of the season to lead Oakland to three straight wins. He saved some of his best football for the last two minutes of regulation and overtime of Sunday's win, and finally got the equivalent of a pat on the back from coach Tom Cable.

Just a week after Cable said the quarterback situation was "clear cut" and Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) would be the starter when he was healthy, Cable backtracked Monday. The three-game winning streak - the team's first since 2002 - has probably won Campbell his job back.

"I really haven't wavered, but ... when you're dealing it and you've got the hot hand, and things are going in the right direction for your football team, you know, why would you make a change?" Cable said. "That's what I think right now.

"But in the back of my mind, I also say, 'It's not really making a change. He was a starter before I made the change with Bruce, and he's kind of come back and done a lot of good things for our team.' "

Cable might be serving some eggs with those waffles if you stop by for breakfast this week. The Raiders have a bye coming up, and Cable expects to officially make an announcement Monday, when Gradkowski should be fully back from his injury.

Campbell has completed 57.5 percent of his passes over the past three weeks for 743 yards, five touchdowns and one interception and a passer rating of 104.3."
