"The Raiders released a statement Wednesday saying they did address numerous issues concerning former quarterback JaMarcus Russell over the past three-plus years.

"We did all that we could to intervene and assist with a myriad of issues with JaMarcus Russell," the Raiders said in a statement posted on their website.

The Raiders didn't acknowledge any of the issues. Russell was guilty of showing up late for meetings and exceeding the prescribed weight limit during his three seasons with the Raiders."
