"The Texans have questions about their special teams as they approach the offseason.
The most important of which involves re-signing kicker Neil Rackers, who set team records with 135 points, 32 field goals and 18 consecutive field goals.
"I want to be a Texan," Rackers said. "It's a great organization with great teammates, and, obviously, a great ballclub.h
"We can't control what happens. The business side of it is what it is. If the Texans want me and I'm back here, I would love that."
Rackers, who'll be 36 and entering his 13th year as a professional next season, connected on 63 consecutive field goals from inside the 45-yard line dating to his career with the Arizona Cardinals. He kicked 11 in a row this season before missing and ending that splendid streak.
After missing only three field goals and scoring 124 points in his first season, he misfired six times this season. His 135 points were the second most of his career, trailing the 140 he posted with the Cardinals in 2005.
"Guys saw what this team is capable of," Rackers said about the 11-7 record, AFC South title and wild-card victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. "I think it only gets better from here."
Special-teams coordinator Joe Marciano, who has been with the Texans since their inception in 2002, has an issue at punter, too."
