"All you Brady Quinn fans out there -- and your numbers are legion -- needn't worry about the boy. Yeah, sure, right after the Browns' former No. 1 pick ended up in Denver, the Broncos chose Florida's Tim Tebow with their first pick.
Matters not. At least one blogger is convinced that the kid from Ohio will start this year. And to a large degree, it's hard to disagree with the reasoning of MC3 Sports Media, writing on xtrapointfootball.com.
In his first year as head coach of the Denver, Josh McDaniels traded away the franchise QB, Jay Cutler. While most people focused on the fact that they got back Kyle Orton in return, the Broncos also received two first round picks and a third round pick in the deal as well. The deal left many wondering why he would trade Cutler, but in the end it's looks as though he was right with his decision. Orton clearly outperformed Cutler in 2009 (but) it doesn't even look like McDaniels is going to stay with Orton as the starter in 2010. On March 14, McDaniels traded Peyton Hillis (fullback) and two future draft picks to the Cleveland Browns for Brady Quinn. Then with the 25th pick in the 2010 draft, he took Tim Tebow.
Look for Orton to go on the trading block at some point. You don't trade for a QB and pick another one with your first pick in the draft if you are happy with your current one.
Let's keep in mind that McDaniels does have three Super Bowl rings and by all accounts he did a phenomenal job in New England with all of the tasks he was in charge of. McDaniels . . . eventually worked his way up to the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. . . New England's offense was a force to reckon with during his tenure there and Tom Brady wasn't the only reason.
This leaves me wondering what is really going on in Denver at the QB position. Brady Quinn is fighting for the starting QB job and I believe he's the front runner. Tebow will be a package player this year and will make the Denver Broncos more money on jersey sales than any other player will for his team in the NFL.
This QB fight will be a fun one to watch. You will have two of the hardest working players in the NFL competing for the job. They will be competing at everything they do."
