"There is a dusty adage in football that the eye in the sky never lies. But Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn would contend the camera may fib a little from time to time.
"Things are never as bad as they look on film, and they're never as good as they look," Quinn said.
Tuesday, Quinn was doing his best to move on from a difficult preseason opener Sunday in Cincinnati. Quinn completed just 6-of-16 passes and had an interception returned 24 yards for a touchdown.
He was sacked once, and at one point — when he was 1-of-6 with the interception — his passer rating in the game was 0.0.
Asked what stood out when he watched the video of the game Monday, Quinn said: "Just some decision making. I think I rushed a couple decisions and a couple throws here and there. I think it just takes a little time — still getting acclimated to the wide receivers and things like that."
Quinn was back in the Broncos' usual rotation in Tuesday's practices, working with the second-team offense much of the time.
Williams closer.
D.J. Williams, who has practiced only sparingly since the opening of training camp with an injury the Broncos refuse to disclose, worked in Tuesday morning's practice.
The linebacker, who has had shoulder and knee surgeries in his career, wore an orange, noncontact jersey when he did practice last week. Williams did not have the orange jersey on for the morning practice, but he sat out the evening practice.
"I think he's close (to full speed)," Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, who added: "We were running around at full speed in 7-on-7s and all that, so it's great to have him back too."
"It felt all right," Williams said. "I haven't been out there in a while, so I've still got some kinks to get out. I've got to get in better shape.""
