"The Blackhawks' one goal for now is to find one goaltender to carry the bulk of load in the playoffs.
But figuring out whom that exactly is hasn't been too easy for coach Joel Quenneville.
Antti Niemi will start tonight against the Los Angeles Kings. The rookie got the nod from Quenneville on Tuesday after Cristobal Huet started the last three games and had his chance to ''take control'' of the net.
''[Niemi] started the first game after [the Olympic break],'' Quenneville said after practice. ''He gets the chance to get back into the net, and we'll see how he responds.''
Neither Huet nor Niemi have been impressive lately. Both have been chased since the break -- although defensive lapses and mistakes haven't helped their causes -- and both have seen their save percentages fall recently.
Niemi has a .909 save percentage, the 26th best mark in the league as of Tuesday. Huet is worse with a .898 mark, not exactly the percentage of a top goalie.
The Hawks' goals-against average overall is still impressive, but that has more to do with a strong puck-possession game and a good defense that limits shots. "
