Former Dr. Phillips and Boise State quarterback Nick Patti was granted a request by the NCAA and will be eligible to play for UCF this fall, his father, Ed Patti, told the Sentinel.

Ed Patti said the decision was not a hardship waiver, but "a request to waive the one-year residence rule based on personal reasons." Nick Patti intends on enrolling at UCF during the Summer A semester and will compete to replace Blake Bortles as the Knights' starting quarterback.

"Cleared to play this year.. God is always good!!!," Patti tweeted on Thursday afternoon.

The 5-feet-10, 195-pound redshirt sophomore completed 8 of 11 passes for 63 yards and no touchdowns last season for Boise State. He was a record-setting passer in high school, graduating with career marks for passing yards (5,701), touchdown passes (66) and pass completions (374).
