"First baseman Carlos Pena walked into Cubs camp Thursday as speculation swirled about the possibility of the team going after prospective free agent Albert Pujols.
Pena has a one-year, $10 million deal that agent Scott Boras referred to as a "pillow contract." Asked facetiously if he would be willing to negotiate a new contract during the season, Pena laughed.
"My deadline starts … uh, I'm wide open," he said.
It's not Pena's fault that the Pujols-to-the-Cubs rumors have gone out of control, though the fact Pena is signed only through 2011 adds to the intrigue."
