For the second day in a row, with fans buzzing about the signing of Prince Fielder to a nine-year contract worth $214 million — the largest contract in team history and fourth-largest ever in baseball — mum was the word.

The same statement applied Wednesday as on Tuesday: "The organization has no comment on the situation."

In other words, they stopped short of making Fielder's signing official. They didn't even say there's an agreement in principle.
