"No one will ever accuse Shaun Hill of having John Elway's cannon-like arm, but the Detroit Lions' 10-year veteran quarterback has the moxy of the Denver Broncos Hall of Famer.
When Hill dropped back in the second quarter of Detroit's first preseason game against Cincinnati, the Lions were facing third-and-goal from the Bengals' 7-yard line. He couldn't find an open receiver, but saw some space on the right side, so he took off running.
With two defenders approaching the goal line, Hill had a choice: Play it safe and give himself up with a slide - the Lions had a 14-3 lead and kicker Jason Hanson would've had a chip shot to tack on another three points - or dive for the end zone.
Hill chose the latter option, got flipped head over heels, but held onto the ball to increase Detroit's lead to 21-3. Of course, the circumstances were polar opposites, but the play was reminiscent of Elway's "Helicoptor" dive for a first down in Super Bowl XXXIII."
