Pekka Rinne is a workhorse and a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist. Last season he led the NHL in wins with 43, notched a 2.39 goals-against average and had five shutouts.
At issue is his workload.
Last season he played in 73 games, a career-high. Since 2003, no team with a goaltender with more than 70 appearances has won a Stanley Cup. (Jonathan Quick of the Stanley Cup-winning Los Angeles Kings did have 69 appearances last season, however.)
