After each game Eeli Tolvanen played for Team Finland during the Olympic tournament, the Nashville Predators had the game film cut down into digestible clips so they could watch every one of his shifts. Just like they’d do for a player they were scouting in free agency or at the trade deadline.
Those clips were distributed to the staff, and they must have been absolutely salivating. Like the time Tolvanen got the puck near the right circle and smoked a shot past a German goalie. Or the backhanded pass he made across the ice without looking to set up another goal for the Finns. These moments came often for Tolvanen in South Korea and it only reinforced what the Predators suspected while he lit up the KHL this season as an 18-year-old.
