"The Indiana Pacers have told veteran swingman James Posey he does not have to report to training camp.

"He's not going to be with us," coach Frank Vogel said. "We're going to make a decision what to do with James at a later date, but he's not going to be in camp."

The Pacers can try to trade Posey, buy him out, use their amnesty clause on him or simply keep him on the roster but not have him around the team, as they did with Jamaal Tinsley several years ago.

Posey is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season.

The 34-year-old Posey fell out of the rotation last season after Jim O'Brien was fired."
