"For the past three months, quarterback Chad Pennington's heart already had him leaning toward a return to the Dolphins. Last Monday, after an important phone call to one of his most respected peers, his mind was equally convinced.
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner spent nearly 50 minutes making Pennington feel comfortable about the prospect of a slow return to football in a role as a reserve. It was the final dose of encouragement he needed before negotiating a deal to return to Miami.
Pennington knew staying in South Florida would be good for his family. Motivated by Warner's late-career resurgence, he also believes his recent decision to sign a one-year deal in Miami will be best for the longevity of his own career.
Pennington, 33, plans to spend five more seasons in the NFL -- including one spent on the Dolphins' sidelines, a source close to Pennington said."
