"Ben Gordon's shooting statistics may be shockingly atypical in his first Pistons season, but one thing hasn't changed about the former Bulls guard.
He's a stand-up guy.
For five minutes Sunday afternoon, Gordon patiently answered question after question about his struggles, which include 30 percent 3-point shooting and a 41.3 percent mark overall.
Gordon's career numbers are 40 percent from 3-point range and 43.5 percent overall. His scoring average of 13.3 this season trails his career average of 17.9.
"Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong," Gordon said. "Being in a new system with new guys and a new coach has been tough. But I'm going to use this as a learning example and try to get better next year."
Consistency defined Gordon's Bulls tenure, in terms of not only production, but also health. He missed 12 games in five seasons. He has missed 19 this season — 11 with a sprained left ankle and eight with a strained right groin.
"I still play the game I love to play and try to win," Gordon said. "That's all you can do now. It doesn't make much sense for guys to feel sorry for themselves and not play hard. You can build character by how you approach these games. That's my mindset."
