"Ben Wallace will decide about his future after the season.
If his legs are fine and he's feeling healthy, the veteran big man would like to play a 14th season. If he doesn't believe he could give the energy and effort it takes to be a major contributor, he'd just as soon retire.
"It's according to how I feel once this thing is over with," said Wallace, who battled a knee injury late in the season. "I'll sit down, chill for a minute, talk to the family and see how everything feels."
When healthy this season, Wallace was the team's best defensive player and held the starting unit together. His absence has been noticeable as opposing big men have had career games against the Pistons' soft middle.
Wallace is much better than anything the Pistons would acquire via the draft next season, and he'd be great as far as helping develop a young player.
"Right now I'm feeling good, but if I was still hurting after the season, that would sway me in a certain direction," Wallace said. "We have a couple of more games, and hopefully I can stay healthy. That'll be the biggest influence on my decision.""
