Pistons guard Brandon Knight took time away from his summer conditioning program Saturday morning to help volunteers build a playground at the Commonwealth Community Development Academy in Detroit.

The playground was one of two sites constructed in the Detroit area with the help of more than 400 volunteers. The facilities will serve thousands of children and were designed from drawings created by youths who participated in special activities in April.

"It feels great to be out in this community and constructing a playground that will give kids the ability to be active and grow socially," said Knight, who was named to the NBA's All-Rookie first team in May.
