Pistons' Ben Wallace flusters young Wizards

"Yeah, Big Ben is ready for the regular season.

In the Pistons' next-to-last exhibition game, Ben Wallace was a force Tuesday night as Detroit moved to 3-4 in the preseason with a 98-92 victory over the Wizards at the Huntington Center.

His stats were modest, with four points, 11 rebounds, four steals and a blocked shot. But he made his presence felt with interior defense and making life tough on the Wizards' young talent.

He scoffed when asked if he was in midseason form, saying he was "just working on his craft."

But his performance came against one of the most athletic frontcourt tandems in the league in Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee.

"I definitely can outthink them," Wallace said.

And probably his most impressive sequence came in the second quarter when he was pressuring rookie point guard John Wall as he brought the ball upcourt. Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in June's NBA draft, is a future superstar, but it's obvious no one told him about Wallace's quick hands."
