"The Pirates traded outfielder Matt Diaz to the Atlanta Braves Wednesday for a player to be named later or cash.
Diaz, 33, hit .259 in 100 games for the Pirates this season, mostly against left-handed pitchers. He hit .295 in 105 at-bats against lefties.
The Pirates signed Diaz to a two-year, $4.25 million contract as a free agent in the off-season. He spent the previous five seasons with the Braves."
